Nite People shared the stage in Boston with the legendary Definitive Jux founder El-P.  The night was filled with good music, good drinks, and good people.  In the words of Borat it was a “Great Success!!”  The evening featured amazing performances from Sage Francis & B Dolan, Yak Ballz & Chauncey, and of course El-P.  Nite People set it off and had the crowd amped for El and his people.  Yohon DI busted out the infamous “GOLD PEICES” on stage which ultimately lead to some classic photos with the gang.  Big shout out to El, Sage, Yak, Chauncey, Kusto, Pablo, Timmy Wiggins, Paul Mighty, and Steadfast.  Special thanks to everyone who came out and showed support.  See you next time!

On September 19th we lost one of the most talented, influential, and inspirational DJ’s of all time. Roc Raida of the X-Ecutioners. He was such a huge influence on me and the way I approached DJing. I remember when I was starting out in high school I used to watch his and the rest of the X-Men’s routines on DMC dvds  over and over again, studying his body tricks(which i still cant do to this day),and the way he would juggle the records. It was incredible to watch him.  You could tell the he was really dedicated to his craft. So I took sometime out to send a salute to the legend cause he inspired me to do what I do on the tables today. Rest in Peace Roc Raida, your contribution to the artform will never be forgotten.

I tried to ignore but i just keep scratching my arms. Another controller for Ableton? yes but there is a couple things that make it unique.

First it does, (just like the APC40), look like a monome. which also by the way looks just like Lives’ session view. So really who cares?

1. THE PRICE!! $200 and it ships nov 1st.

2. size. its very portable, and usb powered.

3. It comes with Live, just a couple years back the program itself was $250 for the full upgrade. It is a special version, but its not lite. For someone just learning Live this version should be fine for a while before needing to upgrade.

Why the hell can’t they play something funky in one of these demo videos? oh well.

ALSO At the BPM show in 2008, Ableton and Serato announced a creative partnership. One year later, they’re  gearing up for a big unveiling on January 14, 2010, at the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California.

for now all we got was this quote from ableton.com “We’re not letting the cat out of the bag just yet, other than to say if you own Ableton Live, and any of the DJ products that use Serato software, get ready to unleash your creativity in 2010!”

SLS affiliates Spit Supreme & Paul Mighty have been making some serious noise lately!  Brooklyn Emcee Sav Killz just leaked the first song from his new album called “Hoodlums & Crooks”.  The song features a guest appearance from Spit Supreme on the mic while Paul Mighty laces a ridiculous beat!  The song even gained attention from the one and only DJ Premier, who recently played it on his “Live From Headcourterz” radio show.
